FAQ
Human Hair Waste
Our planet is home to an exponential resource of 8,1 billion people. Every year 2.2 billion kg of hair waste is generated globally from hair salons and ends up in landfills or burnt causing significant harm upon our environment.
What happens when hair waste ends up in landfill or is burnt?
Hair waste is today mostly sent to landfills or burned causing significant harm upon our environment.
When human hair waste is disposed of in plastic bags and ends up in landfills it produces methane, a powerful greenhouse gas that is released into the atmosphere. When human hair waste is burnt it also releases extremely toxic gases which worsen air quality. Furthermore it can clog drains and waterways.
Is human hair recyclable?
Yes, Human hair can be recycled and converted into new products. There are many possible uses for human hair waste, but they require hair to be disposed of in a responsible way in order to mitigate any environmental risks.
Through our recycling service and waste management system the hair waste is processed into new products minimizing the negative impact on the environment.

Why Hair?
Hair is a biological fiber. Its abundant quantity, non-toxic, non-irritation of the skin, high tensile strength, lightweight, thermal insulator, flexibility, and oil-absorbing capability as a material shows great potential to replace synthetic fibres in various applications.
Human hair grows approximately 2.7 cm per year. With 8 billion people on earth human hair is a great local and regenerative resource that should not go to waste.
Circular Economy, Closed Loop Systems & Clic Recycle
The circular economy is a system where materials never become waste and nature is regenerated. In a circular economy, products and materials are kept in circulation through processes like maintenance, reuse, refurbishment, remanufacture, recycling, and composting.
The circular economy tackles climate change and other global challenges, like biodiversity loss, waste, and pollution, by decoupling economic activity from the consumption of finite resources. In our current economy, we take materials from the Earth, make products from them, and eventually throw them away as waste – the process is linear. In a circular economy, by contrast, we stop waste being produced in the first place. Learn more. (Link)
